Today's game canceled
by posted 07/10/2020

Dear parents,

Apologies for the late notice, but we held out hope as long as possible. With the on-and-off-and-on again showers, it's just not meant to be. Cross your fingers for Monday's game. Please arrive at 5:30, which is 30 minutes before scheduled start time.

Have a good weekend,

Update on today's game
by posted 07/10/2020

Dear parents,

Good morning. As you've probably noticed, the League and the Parks & Rec Dept. have canceled practices even though the weather seems fine. This policy is Covid-driven because we can no longer huddle together in dugouts and cars to wait out rain storms. With a tropical storm approaching, it's possible that today's game will be canceled. We're checking with the League, the umpire, and the other team's coaches to see if the game can start earlier to increase our chances of avoiding the rain. We'll try to send another email update around 2:00 p.m. once we hear back from folks and the forecast becomes more certain.

Yours, Cubs Coaches

Today's practice cancelled
by posted 07/01/2020

Dear Cubs fans,

Good afternoon. We've just received an email that our practice scheduled for this afternoon at 6:00 p.m. has unfortunately been cancelled due to rain. Other teams have booked the field for tomorrow afternoon. We'd ordinarily try to squeeze in a joint practice with them, but, of course, these aren't ordinary times.

We'll see you at Upper Broadmeadow on Monday at 5:15 p.m. for our first game. The game is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m., but we'll need some extra time to go over safety protocols again and get in a few more repetitions. We strongly encourage you to engage in some baseball activities with your boys this holiday weekend: catch and whiffle ball are great ways to help rebuild their skills.

And since our kids have become experts at watching YouTube videos during lockdown, we suggest they watch some of these to prepare them for games:

Have a happy and safe holiday weekend,

Cubs Coaches

P.S. If anyone still needs a helmet, Coach Ayres may have one for you. Feel free to text him at 617.970.0063.
